Wednesday, February 19, 6:00 PM: In honor of Black History Month, The Robbins House is excited to welcome Craft Sutton Vincentt. His presentation, “Kicks. History 101,” will offer an energetic look at global events and culture. Join Craft at the Goodwin Forum at the Concord Free Public Library as he explores the deep links between sneakers and history – from war-torn countries to hip hop’s massive influence. Discover how sneakers go beyond fashion, serving as symbols of resistance, impact, and change. About Craft Sutton (Vincentt): Craft Sutton (Vincentt) is a historian, researcher, and cultural enthusiast with roots in Philadelphia, PA, and Danville, VA. Currently pursuing his M.A. at North Carolina Central University, Craft also serves as the Public Historian for the HBCU Radio Preservation Project, where he works to preserve and uplift the stories and voices of Black College radio stations. Beyond academia, Craft’s passion for sneakers and history intersect in meaningful ways. He has presented on the cultural significance of sneakers at Shaw University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina A&T University, and with the Wonder Community of Lifelong Learning, exploring their role in identity, community, and social movements. With a deep love for storytelling—whether through historical research or sneaker culture—Craft continues to engage audiences in conversations that bridge the past and present in fresh, innovative ways. The event is free to attend; we kindly ask that you register in advance. https://www.robbinshouse.org/
